1.3 Assessment Data (Audio & Text)
Due to the nature of our AI-powered language assessment:
- Audio Recordings: When you use the Speaking Lab or complete Speaking Mock Exams, we collect and temporarily store the audio recordings of your voice.
- Transcripts & Text: Your audio is transcribed into text. The text of your writing lab submissions and speaking transcripts are stored to track your progress and generate analytical feedback.
2. How We Use Your Data
CLBReady uses the collected data for various purposes:
- To provide, maintain, and personalize the Service.
- To process your speaking and writing submissions through our proprietary AI models and third-party LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, xAI) to generate scoring and feedback.
- To manage your account, track your testing history, and visualize progress.
- To process transactions securely via our payment processor, Stripe.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues.
A Note on Third-Party AI Models:
Your audio transcripts and written essays are securely transmitted to third-party AI providers (such as Grok or OpenAI) exclusively for the purpose of generating your evaluation. We have data agreements in place preventing these providers from using your assessment data to train their foundational public models. Your data remains yours.
3. Payment Information
We do not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to our third-party payment processors (Stripe), whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy. Stripe adheres to the standards set by PCI-DSS.
4. Data Retention
We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Assessment Data (like audio recordings) may be automatically purged periodically to conserve storage, while your text transcripts and scores are retained long-term to populate your Progress Dashboard. You may request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

Depending on your location (e.g., if you are covered by GDPR in Europe or PIPEDA in Canada), you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
